Ma Little Vine 2011
It is now the third year that I track the evolution of this little vine in "Les Echezeaux". Track it with me, and do not hesitate to compare to the previous years to see the impact of the weather. See last year's pictures
Tuesday November 29 Cette année exceptionnellement nous avons "butté" ma petite vigne. Rassurez-vous, elle est toujours bien vivante... |
Tuesday November 29 Yes the harvest is over. This little "verjus" (second generation grape that was not picked because not sufficiently rippened) will feed the birds and the soil! |
Tuesday November 22 My little vine has given its harvest. It is now readying for Winter. Its woods are hardening to sustain the winter freezes. We have removed the dead vines and dug holes to prepare replanting and let the soils breathe during the winter. |
Monday August 22, 2011 My little vine is almost ready for harvest, that we plan to start from September 1st. Until then, the berries will continue to increase their sugar content and the tannins with smoothen... |
Wednesday August 10, 2011 The color of the grape is now more regular, its sugar content increases and has already powerful aromas and a thick skin. More sun is expected... |
Monday August 1st, 2011 Sun and rain in turn these last days have accelerated the veraison (color change). Next week a sampling will give us a more accurate forecast of the beginning of the harvest ! |
Sunday July 17, 2011 The grapes are changing color very slowly. The sun has been hiding recently. Nevertheless, my little vine remains very healthy. Patience ... |
Wednesday July 6, 2011 My little vine is benefiting from the nice weather and is doing very nicely. The berries are ready to turn. If you look carefully, you will find some that already turned. |
Thursday June 30, 2011 My little vine is very nice, very healthy. So I took the decision to stop treating, even if it is still early in the season: it is commonly accepted that after the bunch is closing, the vine becomes resistant to diseases ! |
Wednesday June 22, 2011 We have almost reached the stage where the grape has closed, which reduces the sensitivity to diseases. We escaped the violent storms and have now a quasi ideal weather ! |
Wednesday June 15, 2011 The recent rain has allowed the berries to swell. Our vineyard remains very healthy. |
Sunday June 5, 2011 Heavy rains this week brought a good amount of waterfall: the grapes will benefit from it! |
Sunday May 29, 2011 The weather has been warm for the last weeks. Blossoming occured in good conditions, the vine is now at the fruit setting stage. Rain is expected for tomorrow... finally? |
Thursday May 19, 2011 The first two flowers are visible on this grape. When it is hot, the flowering is progressing fast, the evolution is clearly visible, and aromatic. |
Thursday May 13, 2011 Finally rain! And with it a bit of freshness. The wires have been raised to support the limbs. |
Thursday May 5, 2011 The stems of my little vine are already reaching the top wire. The harvest will probably come much earlier than usual... |
Thursday April 28,2011 Even if the weather is unusually dry, my little vine continues to grow, with the flower buds clearly visible. Already hail is threatening. Hail, frost... Hope! |
Thursday April 21 2011 My little vine keeps growing, 2 weeks ahead of a normal schedule. See last year's pictures |
Thursday April 14, 2011 The unusually warm weather of the last days have triggered a fast growth of my little vine. We are now concerned about a morning frost... |
Wednesday April 6, 2011 The very sunny days of this early April encourage the sap to flow in the vine, the buds are growing, the debudding has started (ou pampination !) . I am going to Brest tomorrow... |
Wednesday March 23 2011 Morning temperatures are still very low. My little vine is slowly reddying its buds... |
Thursday March 10, 2011 I just pruned my little vine in the Echezeaux. The ground was turned up to limit grass growing in the spring. Now everything is Hope ! |
